Anna (Derkack) Tarnowsky

Anna (Derkack) Tarnowsky, 85, of Carteret, died Friday, May 22, 2015 at Rahway Hospital. he was born and raised in Rahway; she lived in Carteret for the past 57 years. She retired fromS Regina Corp. in Rahway after many years and she was a parishioner of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Carteret.

 

Anna was predeceased by her husband Walter in 1993, her sisters Helen Derkack, Mary Blazovic, Pauline Dacko, and her brothers George, John, Charles, and Michael Derkack. She is survived by her loving son and caregiver Michael at home, her sister Martha Kunak Szaro of Toms River and many nieces and nephews.

 

The funeral will be on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 9AM at Synowiecki Funeral Home, 56 Carteret Avenue in Carteret. Mass will be at 9:30AM at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Carteret, followed by Interment at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia. Visiting hours will be on Monday, from 4PM-8PM with parastas at 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions to the family to cover expenses will be appreciated.

 

 

 

Joan Bobenchik

AGE: 83 • Edison

 

Joan Bobenchik, 83, Edison, died on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at Haven Hospice JF Kennedy Medical Center, Edison. Born in Altoona, PA, she was formerly of Carteret, before moving to Edison 8 years ago. Joan retired from Lord & Taylor in Woodbridge and was a parishioner of St. Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in Carteret.

 

Joan is predeceased by her husband, Walter Bobenchik and is survived by her 2 nieces, Anna Grace Bratyanski and Lucy Molinaro; her 2 great-nieces and her 2 great-great-nieces.

 

Funeral is Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 9am at Synowiecki Funeral Home, 56 Carteret Ave, Carteret. Mass 9:30am at St. Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in Carteret, followed by Internment at Rosehill Cemetery, Linden. Visiting hours are Monday 7pm-9pm.

 

 

Gloria R. Basara

AGE: 68 • Carteret

 

Gloria R. Basara, age 68, of Carteret passed away Saturday June 6, 2015 at J.F.K. Medical Center, Edison. Born in Elizabeth, she had resided in South River for 44 years before moving to Carteret 3 years ago. Mrs. Basara was a member of Saint Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Carteret, where she served on the Church Council. Gloria was a member of Saints Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Church in South River, where she was a member of the Altar Society.

 

She is predeceased most recently by her son, Joseph W. Basara May 24, 2015, Elizabeth Ann Basara April 21, 2009 and Judith Ann Basara on April 21, 1971. She was also predeceased by her parents Michael & Rose Terebetsky and her brothers Michael & Richard Terebetsky. Surviving are her husband of 47 years Joseph Basara, her daughter-in-law Lori Basara of Queens, N.Y., her grandchildren Brandon and Alyssa Basara of Howell and her sister-in-law Sonja Harris of South River.

 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday 9:30am from the Maliszewski Funeral Home 218 Whitehead Avenue South River followed by a 10am service at Saints Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Church in South River with burial to follow at Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery, South River.

 

Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Tuesday from 6pm to 9pm. Panahida services with choir will be held Tuesday 7pm at the funeral home. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations in Gloria's name be made to Saints Peter & Paul Handicap Ramp Fund.
